16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected.
35-10 - - - Intermittent
16688 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
35-10 - - - Intermittent
16687 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
35-10 - - - Intermittent
16690 - Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected
35-10 - - - Intermittent

hey dude,
When the engine pings, it will sometimes throw a misfire code. My 1.8T does it too.
btw, i got some 100 octane yesterday.. oh man.. that **** is addicting :-)

I had misfires for quite a while..
They regularly tripped the check engine light, which would then go away a few days later.
One dealer couldn't fix it twice and told me to make sure not to run the car really low on gas. Since I don't think I'm any worse at running low on gas than the next guy, I dismissed that advice.
I took it to another dealer who diagnosed a faulty coolant temperature sensor. Problem hasn't happened since.
