Default BMW v. Audi

I can speak from experience on this. As a German car enthusiast, I bought a 2002 in '72 before it was chic to have one. Over the years I've had two 3 series and (as I got older) two 5 series cars, while my wife opted for an Audi 100 in '89. After my '95 530i, which really was a good car, I went with one of the first 30v A4s, and have been totally hooked on Audis ever since. In my mind (and experience) they're as well or better made than BMW, classically stylish without being gimmicky (can you bimmerphiles honestly say you like the new 745i or even the Z4? ), and with the best AWD system on the market, the cars are winners, hands down. I am totally sold on them, as is my wife, now driving her 3rd A6 - for me, BMWs have simply lost their lustre. Unlike the parking lot snob, I barely notice BMWs anymore. I can't see myself buying one again. Audi has and continues to position itself well.

Default You can get that from almost anyone. There are people who buy the sport versions (M, S, AMG) who

know very little about cars. I have a friend who bought an M3 who if he didn't know me would think the S4 is just a simple trim level of the A4 (not to sound obnoxious to A4 owners) if he even noticed it was an S4 and not an A4.

I can't believe it! I had the same experiance a week ago. I saw this dad dropping his kid off at school. I saw him near an M3 and commented that it was a nice car. He said, "Thanks" and like you wouldn't acknowledge my 2000 S4. Trying to make more conversation, I said, "maybe we should come out and play sometime?" and he just looked at me with no reply. Not even, "That would be cool." or "Nah, I'd kick you butt" or something. I think you're right - BMW/Merc owners are nothing but well-heeled people who want to be noticed.

Did they compliment your face or body?
