Yesterday, I was following a B6 S4 through a long medium speed left turn. We were both moving pretty fast, but I've taken the same turn in my old GTI VR6 and Volvo Turbo 245 in similar speeds. My S4 started turning fine but went progressively into more and more understeer. It was a bit embarassing as the front tires were squealing like pigs! I had to delay accelerating out of the turn until the front end settled down. I've never experienced anything like it before. Later, I realized that the ESP was on, so I'm assuming it kicked in and interfered with my actions. I don't know if the B6 driver has turned off his ESP. I got a brief chance to talk to him at the next light, seemed like a nice guy, but at that time I did not think about the ESP.

Is the B5 ESP really as bad as it felt. If so, I'll have to get into the habit of turning it off every time (unless someone know how to diable it entirely?)

most guys seem to run with it off. I'll leave it on if it's raining.
