Lemme see...
272km/hr = 169MPH which would require just about 6750RPMs (with a 6-speed manual transmission geared at 0.684 6th gear mated to 4.111 final drive -- like all known S4's have), but the tach only shows 6250RPMs -- look like another case of the superoptimistic European speedometer.
And if you think the tach is inaccurate, I noticed the other day through the AC display my tachometer overstating (not understating as would have to be the case in this picture) RPMs by about 100RPMs (a more detailed investigation into this will follow).
