Fair price for Audi certified 2001 S4, 44K miles, 6-spd. ?
Sunset Audi here in Portland has one and the first price I got from them was $29997. This seems a bit high, seeing as similar cars are selling for mid 20s privately. I'd be interested in opinions.

If you consider they probably paid 20-21K in trade >>
then I'd agree that an offer in the 25-26K neighborhood would still be fair. We'll see.
I'd actually be selling a 97 Supra (BPU) for the Audi. I'm ready for a change and think the S4 interior is one of the nicest around.

thanks. If I do buy this car I'll want to modify it somewhat, but...
I'll have to see how much I can get away with before voiding the Audi warranty. I guess it's pretty dealer dependent.

BTW since everyone is listing the details of their purchse, my car was
22.5k out the door, 2001.5, 28.5k miles, sport, premium, but as-is, no warranty. With the service checkup and a couple things it needed was close to 24 or 25k.

2001.5 Silver - 6 sp - $28k out the door (tax, title, doc)
Bought mine about 2 months ago. It has the cold weather package, convenience package and a 6 disk. Audi certified and still under the factory warranty until Sept 2005. This car is exceptionally clean compared to others I've looked at. Unless it's showroom new, $30k seems a little high.
