This usually reliable publication has 3 pictures plus the following text on page 16 of the Feb 2002 issue. (Note that in the pictures of a silver S4 the bottom panels are SILVER.)

"Eight into Four - Audi gives the S4 a V-8"

"In what amounts to a gauntlet thrown at the feet of BMW, the next Audi S4 will trade its 250-hp, 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 for a version of the corporate 4.2-liter V-8, rated at 340 hp. Captured while testing last fall at Germany's fabled Nurburgring circuit, these pictures of the hotted-up A4 reveal a deeper front air intake, conspicuously flared fenders, and a small deck-lid spoiler. The S4 will be available in sedan and wagon (Avant) form and as a coupe, too. We expect to see the first production-ready versions at the Geneva show in the spring."

Or do you just post here when you find something interesting? Have a question that had already been answered umpteen times? Or just plain bored. Not a flame, just interested in finding out becuase this must be the 12th time someone posted the same information, albeit from a different source but the same information none the less ( and usually the same pix ) and all have been either dismissed or refuted.
Only time will tell, and NO, I don't know when the next gen S4 will be available here.

Makes sense, m3 is 333 horspower, i thought i tuned s4 engine would fit better, o well

The S4 has been Turbo Charged since its introduction in the early 90's. WTF?!? Granted with the insane warranty that is offered in the US I assume they cannot "tune" the 2.7T to be as reliable as a "boat" engine like the V-8. Depressing...I am keeping my 2001 S4 resale values should be great!!
