Default Fellow stage3 folks- I notice that I am starting to hear a bit of what to me sounds like turbo whine

at higher boost levels (22ish) during WOT burst. My boost profile has not changed and the car still seems to perform as always. I have been hesitant to do any FATS runs for comaprison before I fully troubleshoot everything.

I have pressure checked everything except the wastegate actuator lines and DV's but I plan on doing so this week. The DV's have about 30K on them and the turbos (K04/RS6) have about 12K on them. I checked the DP to turbo connections and everything else I could think of while under the car this weekend to make sure that I didn't just hear a leak and think it was something else.

Externally the turbos look brand new and I could pull the DP's and check for shaft play/FOD damage if people think I should go to this level.

The whine is not like the turbo lady whine I had when the K03's went but it is definitely there and was not before.

Anybody else have a similar experience or have any suggestions as to where else I might look?

TIA-

Default I think, as you have been, make sure there are no leaks and everything works properly you OK

you most likely wouldn't do anything anyway if the turbos are slowly wearing.

Default I get some high pitch noises at WOT that I have isolated to my Forge 3" catback.

Goes away when I have a 3.5" cat back on the car.

Default Thanks- These cars can put you on edge at times. I have a 3" Milltek so I may try ...

another exhaust just to see if it goes away.

Default Thanks- true about the turbos. If they go, they go. I have had the motor out before...

and it would be just rebuilt turbos this time.

Default Labor and downtown to rebuild turbos that sound suspicious seems a little over whelming. Stay on

track and check the peripherals and see what happens. :-)
