Ferris, question about running race gas-->
I'll be running a couple rounds down in MD this weekend. It's sure to be warm there. In my stock car will I benefit much (if any) by running some race gas. Since it's a 200 mile trip there. If I filled up with gas before leaving, by the time I arrived there the ECU should long since have adjusted, correct?

Yes 100 octane will help combat ignition retard due to heat
even on a stock car. 200 miles is more then enough time for the ecu to "learn" and adjust for the higher octane. But if you have a VAG tool, erase the fault codes, that supposedly erases what the ecu has learned, kind of a guarentee that the ecu will advance timing the most it can.
Other than that remember race gas is far from cheap, so I'm not sure I'd waste it on 200 miles of highway, I know I get about 260 miles a tank. Your best bet is to find a place closer to the track. Have fun and enjoy, don't forget to shut esp and post your time slip

Problem is...
Anytime the ECU loses power it loses the throttle adaption. So you'll need to make sure the throttle body is cool and give it a second to adapt itself before starting. Now if you have a VAG tool I'm all for that method, that way you KNOW all is well
