Has anyone had this problem before? I can't imagine that the pump wasn't actually pumping gas into the car in the first place. There was fresh fuel around the neck of the inlet. I actually looked back at the spot where I parked to make sure I didn't have a massive leak under the car. Also, when I rock the car I can hear the fuel slapping the sides of the tank. Is there a float in the tank that can get stuck or a sensor failure? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

but I doubt it. Your sending unit may be shot. Basically, the float arm position controls the resistance in the circuit to the sending unit. That voltage corresponds to a fuel level via algorithm in the computer, which ultimately tells your fuel gauge needle where to be. I'm not sure of the details on the S4 FSU, but if it's like the Honda ones at work, you'll have to replace the entire FSU or take it apart and "homebrew" fix it. I'm pretty sure you cannot buy the child parts to the FSU to fix what is actually wrong. Hope this helps.
