first pics and thoughts on Aquamist system done by Rick up at Broadway Auto Clinic
Let me first say that Rick is an AWESOME guy. I've read his posts before and talked to him on the phone but he's even better in person. You feel like your car is great hands. He's a straight shooter and definitely knows his ****. His wife is awesome too. She drove me to get a rental car and then when they didn't have any cars - she drove me WAY out of her way and then even picked me up later. It's not overly easy to kill 8 hours in Albany! Anyway to the real stuff.
The aquamist system taps your windshield fluid tank. You can run straight windshield fluid and see no real gains but just know that your engine will be a little happier and your egt's a little lower. You can also run a mix of 50 percent fluid and 50 percent methonal. This lets you run a race program on 93-94 octane gas. The small hoses run down over the T-body and are inserted into the Bi-pipe area of the car. One on each side of the bipipe. You can see the drivers side one in the pics below. The further down the bi-pipe the better because it gives more time for the air to cool before it hits.
The misters turn on at a set boost level. You can adjust this by turning a small screw under the hood. They come preset at 10psi which is probably a good thing. There's no need to be burning off your tank just cruising at 60mph.
I drove the car back from albany. Rick reset the ecu so i figured it would take a while for the AMS chip to relearn everything. About 60miles down the highway it was like something clicked. The car started pulling so hard. It was so hard to keep it under 90. I just had so much fun flooring it. I can't say how much of a gain you get but the car pulls way harder then it did on my drive into albany this morning. For anyone who doesn't have access to race gas this is a wonderful option. It was a 2 hour install plus about 350 for the kit. The install was very smooth and I have a nice on and off switch by my left foot that lights up red.
