Default fluck!

looks like the boot is blown? is this the CV boot?

it's heavy grease, not brake fluid at least.

easy/hard fix?

i have not had a chance to get under it and clean it up to see where the hole is.

Possibly.. If it is a CV, it's pretty cheap.

Default Mat and I shook the 8 ball and all signs point to ----> YES

We just replaced two sets today. About $100 for the boots.

Default Mat here, long answer......

In a perfect world, yea it's easy enough to do it yourself. Unfortunately, theres a lot of potential for problems. frozen ball joints, rusty bolts, and this one probably being the first one you've done will definitely contribute to a lot of swearing. If you do attempt it by yourself, make sure you have a B.F.H.

FYI, myself & another experienced tech just took 2.5 hours to do the right side CV boot on an S4 today. Everything was frozen, we have air tools, torches, and a wide assortment of hammers too.

Call Ed if you need help, but make sure the sun's still up :-)
