Default Found unplugged N249 on wife's "new" 02 A6 2.7t.

Bought a A6 2.7t for the wife. Did a VAG scan and got 17695 (open circuit N249). Check engine light was NOT on. Plugged it back in and the car runs the same? What controls the DVs when the N249 is not working?

vacuum does - IIRC the N249 is more of a safeguard than anything else

Default Yup. N249 retains a vaccum reservoir so that the engine/ECU can actual the BPVs at any time.

Otherwise, they'll only open when engine vacuum is present (which is typically when you want to vent boost).
