Default Front control arm replacement, any suggestions?

Can anyone suggest what kit to use or not to use? I have read mixed reviews in the archives.

I was happy with PureMS. Make sure you get the right kit. Steel v. Alum.

Default I got mine off of ebay and installed them last night actually.

Apparently its not listed right now, but what I got is the link. Cost me 130 bones for all 4 arms. Rubber in the bushings looks same as OEM. If they fail and my wheels go into my fender one day, I'll let you know.

When I did the install, I dropped one of the bolts and it went underneath the tray that the battery sits on. I don't have my radio code, so I spent about 2 hrs trying to fish that sucker outta there without disconnecting the battery (which would have made it a 2 minute fish job). So don't do that. Also, make sure to measure the distance from the upper control arms to the strut housing as directed in Bentley. Also, you can get a bolt kit for both sides (total of 6 bolts and 6 nuts) from ECS for $15. Other than that, have fun.<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;viewitem=&amp;item=2501 50722758">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;viewitem=&amp;item=2501 50722758</a</li></ul>

Default Not bad if the pinch bolt that holds the uppers in comes out for you :-)

If not, make certain you've got a torch accessible. You'll burn the boots on the old ones, but you're replacing them anyway.

PS: Put anti-sieze on the new bolts(which you will need!) If the kit doesn't come with them, get them at a VW dealer for a B5 Passat. Doesn't really matter what year.

Good luck!

Your radio would've known that it was in its 'home' car and likely not asked for the code
