Default Front wheel bearing w/ aluminum uprights. Mechanic says I need alignment....

because he has to unblot the TREs. Would unbolting the TREs from the spindle alone cause need for an alignment?

Default yes.

in general, an alignment after ANY TRE or suspension work is advisable anyway.

Default Nope

Not unless he takes the rod end off the rack... even then he can leave the jam nut for reference.

Even if he wants to charge an additional $200 (quoted me at $380 total)

Default I actually read that thread and thought i'd have a step up

but he assured me that unbolting the TRE would warrant a toe up alignment for an extra $200.

Looks like I''ll try a couple other places
