Front wheel bearing w/ aluminum uprights. Mechanic says I need alignment....
because he has to unblot the TREs. Would unbolting the TREs from the spindle alone cause need for an alignment?

Not necessary...

I actually read that thread and thought i'd have a step up
but he assured me that unbolting the TRE would warrant a toe up alignment for an extra $200.
