Default And the fun never ends.... very long(BWW)

So i finally found the problem with my car.....blown turbos.

While it might not be the only problem it's definitely blown.

What sucks is I just installed these turbos on jan 07. And have put very little miles on it (2kmiles), but when my old engine got damaged by the massive oil and coolant contamination, turbos were damaged too. I didn't know that at the time and even after getting the car working with the new engine and boosting perfect, I refused to believe turbos were an issue, and kept looking into the engine only.

It took me a while to figure this out, mostly because I was super busy with work but also because I was very depressed with the car. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars to have a car that I hardly drive. Take a look at this picture, cleaning the garage before my 7th engine removal in the last 8 months. And these are not all coolant bottles I used just to ones I still had around.

Taking turbos out of the equation is not very easy, well you really can't completely remove them out just kind reduce their influence.
I knew the car only smoked when I drove it for a while(warm). Driving the car till it was warm than removing the turbos from the intake didn't work either. Because of the oil residue in the cylinder would not go away if the car was only idling. I had to drive the car to increase the load/temp of the engine to burn away the existing oil, so I had to find a way to drive the car and make sure turbos were not spitting oil in the intake and also not spooling without load on throttle request.

What I did was run the car without the turbos connected to the intake. I disconnected the APR bi pipe from the intercoolers and put a "filter"￾ on the bipipe ends instead of the upper IC hoses. See pics

I found that the wastgate system has very well sealed to the point that I only had to pressurize the system and the WG would stay open for a long time(5min or more), but I didn't trust that and would keep switching the air compressor on/off while driving.
Worked super well.

Car ran, even thou felt weak without turbos. Cylinders were clean with no oil but car still smoking telling me that the hot side of the turbo was also bad.

That night I and couple friends decided to remove the engine actually setting my new record time of a little over an hour. Probably about 1:15 minutes. Not bad if you are doing in jack stands and car ramps.

Turbos had lots of shaft play and oil. Pics of the turbo to come soon.
I'm looking for RS6 turbos now.

Special thanks for Nate(nawilson82), Nick and John for helping me get my engine out one more time.

Some random pics of my garage clean out day right before engine removal.

Default wish I had your skills...

Iwith the ability to get the engine out in that short of time I'd be running more than PJ K04's.

Default "practice makes perfect"

trust me when i got my car i was scared sh!tless of removing the engine. The person i got the car from once told me he could do it in 7 hours because he done it so many times.
My first time taking the engine out took over 50 hours. I was going by Mike's writeup and if something wasn't there i was screwed.

Today is a very different story. I know ALL bolts sizes and locations, i also know most torques and order of assembly memorized.
But the most important part is i have 2 friends(one has a S4,the other does not) that have helped me many times.

Its fvcking team work, i wish existed in my office. We have done it so many times that by now its like a completely in sync orchestra. We don;t even talk to each other. We just know what where when and how. and engine is out.
