Typical: 21.2mpg, 19.5mpg, 30mph. Trips: 27mpg , 25.5mpg, 77mph.
Why is the actual always significantly less than the trip computer's reading? Is there any adjustment for this?

Cool. I'll check it out.
I swear it was better when I got the car last year. Same mods too and same gas station typically. I remember being so suprised how little my gas mileage was different from my old '97 12V A4. I got about 22mpg in that and was getting about 20.5mpg in the S I thought. Hmmmm...
I did find Mark P's gas mileage spreadsheet and he gets about 19.5mpg and for a higher avg mph of around 50mph so maybe I should be happy.

about the same here....interesting that my car gets better gas mileage than the 2.8 engine
in the A6 avant. Im assuming the S4's mileage is better due to less weight, but still im surprised.

Got home and checked Bentley. Here's what it says:
Consumption signal, checking
Special tools and equipment
VAG1526 multimeter
VAG1598 test box with VAG1598/25 adapter
VAG1594 connector test kit
Test box for the individual Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Set display indicator of board computer to current consumption (1/100 km),
- Start engine and perform a road test.
- Observe consumption display in instrument cluster.
I don't have the 'special tools' for that. Wonder if the dealer could do it easily?
