Default German Castrol 0W30, snake oil?

I was very very conscious of how the motor sounded before with the M1 0W40 and after with the GC 0W30. To be quite honest at idle I could not note a difference what-so-ever in smoothness or sound. I even took before and after idle video on my digital camera to see if I could pick up differences in sound. Hmm....oh well. Maybe it will get smoother with some miles on it.

Default Re: The best way to compare is to do a used oil analysis on each.

Both are very good oils. You can go to bitog and look at others uoa to get an idea. I've been running GC in my allroad for over a year and have very good UOA with it.

Default I even use it in my 12 year old Peugeot

Living in Europe Castrol RS comes in 0-40w and 10-60w. I use the 0-40w both in the S4 and the Peugeot 306 XSI. In the S4 it's noticeably quieter than when I used Mobile 1 0-40w. In the 120 bhp Peugeot the motor is both quieter and noticeable more powerful

Default It's not a huge difference, but definitely less valve clatter......

It has great UOA's, and it's cheaper than M1 0W-40. Just make sure you get the correct "vintage".
