getting a loud cracking sound from my rear?
please keep jokes to a minimum.
loud cracking when going over bumps on drivers side only. sounds eqally bad inside or out. could it be a blown strut, loose swaybar? not sure what else it could be. pretty sure it's not the the typical exhaust rattle. getting progressively worse fast. (any suggestions not including my **** are appreciated)TIA

The swaybar links are plastic, and have been known to break sometimes
and you might check the subframe where the sway bar mounts. Especially if you have a larger bar without reinforcements.

Mine did this after I installed my sway bar.
It took a month or so but it ended up being the endlink (big allen screw) had losened up a little and that was making the noise. Once it was tightend down, it has never made that noise again.

I had something similar..contributed it to the rear windows and body flex..(m)...
Mine comes and goes..worse on cold days. Try cracking the windows just a bit and see if it goes away.
Mine also goes away after I wash the car.

Re: getting a loud cracking sound from my rear?
I had the same sound when I first got my S4. . . .
But the sound came from the passenger's side rear -- I thought it was something in the right rear suspension. I took it to the dealer a couple of times and I did a walk-through with the tech. Nothing loose, nothing broken. Then around 6k miles, the sound went away and hasn't come back. The only other thing that I noticed about the "CRACK!" noise was that it happened more often when the car had sat in the HOT Alabama sun for several hours. Now that it's cold, it doesn't happen.
