Default GIAC race chip vs. modded 300ZX twin turbo :-)

I've been testing out one of the GIAC "race" chips for the 2000 "A" box ECU. This thing is AMAZING. Oddly enough, it makes LESS peak boost than his "street" chip. I've never seen more than a steady 15 psi yet, other than a few spikes to 16 or 17 that occur in top gear roll-ons at speed. Still falls to 11 psi at redline to save the turbos. Smooth as glass, best throttle control and boost response I've felt in any chip I've tried. Incredibly linear. No pinging (on east coast pump fuel, anyway) when the weather is reasonable, although I can feel it pull some timing on (95+ with stupid high humidity) hot days. I generally stay out of the boost when it is that hot anyway. No track times yet, but I am gonna try to make a few passes tonight. Road dyno testing indicates the car is making SERIOUS top end power. In fact, you will be amazed. Dyno graph above. Garrett got this one perfect.

Anyway, I've found one of this chip's really strong points is a roll on from 70 in 4th gear. It is dramatically more powerful than the "street" chip. I've had a couple chances to test it, walking an LT1 vette from 70-120, and today, a real heated battle with a 300ZX TT sporting a aftermarket exahust, lowered, and I could hear the woosh of some BOV's. He was ripping through traffic, and I figured "why not?" Showed him just enough to get his interest, and I let him sprint away to see what I was facing. Figured it was a loss, as the car was FAST. Caught back up, side by side at about 75 mph. We both punch it, me in 4th gear. To my surprise I was pulling slowly, but steadily. On the upshift to 5th, I had about a fender, and by 145, he was at my rear bumper. We got back down to sane speeds, and he was damn impressed. Good run overall. Damn I love this car.

Anyway, above is the dyno result of this chip on 93 octane Amoco, 75 degrees, with low humidity. Only mods on the car are the chip and bailey valves, otherwise all stock. Say it can't be done if you want, but SlvrbulletS4 will attest to it, we did 3 runs all within 3 hp right in a row. First run netted 346 hp, then this run at 348, and a 3rd run at 349. All runs done consecutively, within a 5 minute timeframe.

Default I raced a twin turbo Z at pomona...

had my Chipped tip vs him with Big can exhaust and don't know what else. I got a good launch and ran my Pomona best 14.2 (it was HOT) but he came from way behind and kicked my a** with a 13.8 @ 106 with some horrible 60' time and his poor launch.

Course my car WAS an auto and BlownS4 ran a 13.8 that day sooo...

Default Well, it is considered a race chip......

But I have been driving it daily for quite some time and have been keeping track of what the car is doing on the VAG tool. It rarely pulls timing, even on 93 octane, unless it gets VERY hot. EGT's, even at the top of 5th gear at WOT, have NEVER exceeded 1530 degrees F, which is about the same as every other chip you can buy off the shelf. Still, 100 octane fuel is recommeded, and as this chip is just a test, it is currently not for sale as far as I know. Email me privately for more information.

he was probably chipped if he had that bad a launch and 60' time and still came back to beat you.
