GIAC Tip question

GIAC Tip question
If anyone out there has the GIAC Tip chip I'd like to know if you have had any problems so far. I may go with the Tip option as my better half does not drive manual. If I go with the GIAC Tip chip and their engine chip, I will have the same performance (maybe a tick better) than a stock 6spd without the chip. I know the Tip will not be as fast as the 6spd, but I know that I'm no professional driver so I know that I could not duplicate the posted bests for 6spds anyway.
Besides, if the wife drives the S4 and sees how great it is, it makes negotiations for further items for it that much easier.
Thanks,
Ron B.

Re: People don't believe me
I believe you. It's like I said. the Tip will be consistent every time. A 6 speed while potentially faster, depends upon the skill level of the person using it. We all like to think we are better than we are. I'm being honest. I doubt I would be CONSISTENTLY faster in a 6 speed over the tip.
Let me ask you this, what is the "GIAC X" ? I've been to their sitre ans AWE's as well but I must be missing soemthing. Is the X a higher pressure chip or something else?

Tip is OK, i like it, effortless power, but
i have this hesitation from 3rd to 4th at half throttle, it wont upshift i have to do it twice. u have that at all? Also has GIAC fixed that weird downshift and immediate upshift when floored in 5th gear?

Re: Same here, X-chip and Tip chip is awesome, but
Is the hunting only at full throttle in 5th and only at half throttle when going form 4th to 5th?
I assume these problems are when the selector is in full auto or do you have the same problem at half throttle when you are manually using the buttons to select 5th gear?

Keep this in mind: once you're moving, a chipped auto S4
is going to kill an unchipped stick-shift. Although it's true that you've got some extra weight (100-200 lbs), the gearing differences between 5 and 6 gears are pretty modest. Offsetting this, you have +60hp/100ft-lbs. The reason why the auto stays slower for 0-60 or 1/4 mile times even when both are chipped is mostly due to the launch and the rpm limit the ecu imposes for the autos; once you're moving this isn't a factor.

Rory, you're forgetting the BEST part of the tip: I get to find a tunnel and blast through with the windows rolled down while I imagine myself to be Herr Schumacher at Monaco!
