I got to drive a Nogaro Blue/ Blue Alcantara interior S4. Very nice. The exhaust note, strangely, sounds better from the driver's seat than it does from the passenger's. Go figure.

Still a few nitpicks keep it from being perfect:
White needles on red gauges really bother me, far too bright and IMHO, ugly
Shifter throws are too long- it needs a short shifter; my A4 has much shorter throws
Bright blue plastic door handles and switchgear make the interior look cheap
The body roll and the brakes I can upgrade, so that's not a big deal

All in all, a truly wonderful drive, though. I now fully understand why you S4 owners are so happy! I would have to take a leave of absence and do a quick tour of the Southern US before it gets too cold, breaking in the S4 along the way.

One thing- wouldn't black Alcantara trim with black bolsters be the cat's meow? That would be a really subtle, but beautiful touch. Give me those all-red gauges and a black Alcantara/black leather interior on a Nogaro Blue or Silver car and I'll have to rob a bank and buy the S4 right now. :-)
