Grrr...I *hate* botching launches!!
Lined up against a WRX a minute ago, and due to a totally botched launch AND a rev-limiter hit on my part, he nailed me. NOT a good way to start the day!
Oh, well, before that we raced up high and I got him even after he got on his first, but I had to nail the brakes before I got too far out in front due to a KA-band blip (which, in keeping with the rest of the morning, turned out to be false).
WHEN is Audi going to release this factory tuning stuff they keep teasing us with???

That's the worst. With this car more than any other I have driven...
if you tank the launch there is NO recovery. The car goes into Kia mode if you bog it. you can't even quickly re-engage the gear.

LOL! Yeah...
...it's horrible, it just limps for that first 1/2 second or so. And to compound the problem, he launched perfectly, got a bit of spin off the line, and got the trophy.
This thing was a bit faster than other WRX's I've seen, though, even up high. I think it had some exhaust work (at least the exhaust tip didn't look stock), but it just may have been a better-built example than the others I've faced.

Thankfully I have yet to tank a launch during a rare street race.
I have slipped it a little much and spun a little much but never completely bogged and blew it. I have bogged while developing my technique with 0-60 testing. man it sucks because a fraction of a second before the car goes into suck mode, you know it. you audibly start the "FVCK!!!" before the car actually dies.

Don't think I haven't been tempted...keep waiting for this "Audi approved" tuning to come out...
...especially since someone got it from one of the VP's here lately and posted about it...we'll see.
Anyway, don't forget that those WRX's can be modded pretty easily too; I had a heavily modified one hand my my *ss last weekend, twice, and I *didn't* botch the launches then! :-) He had some really sweet exhaust work done, and it sounded really nice as it went by. That thing was in M3 territory.
