and it makes the S4 even more of a pleasure to drive. Tuan drilled a hole in the shifter to change the pivot point. This shortens the throw about 40% from stock. Only a slight increase in effort is required, and the shifts are a smooth and quick clickety-click! No noticeable change in shifter height. No more rowing the boat. He also modified the UUC reverse screw. The shifter sits upright and vertical in the 3-4 gate, while enabling you to catch 1-2 without binding. IMO, a well worthwhile mod. It was worth it to R&R my already installed UUC shifter. The car even feels faster. Nice work, Tuan!

I also got the "Tuan" mods done to my new UUC shifter......more..
Tuan did a total of 7 today. Shifter looks exactly like the original....no lean at all.
It was a very successful short shifter party. Thanks to everyone who helped out. Next time someone else brings the beer.

Re: what is the "Tuan" mod to the UUC shifter......more..
Tuan has a milling machine (used as a beefy drill press) and a lathe. Highly recommended to have these machines to make precise cuts.
To shorten the throws, a hole was drilled beneath the factory sleeved hole, midway between the sleeved hole and the bottom of the shifter. The hole drilled was just slightly larger than the bolt diameter. Reinstall the lower piece of the shifter so that the perfect *L* is maintained. No Teflon sleeve was used, but one could probably be used if you make a bigger hole. We lubed the bolt well with white Lithium grease. Very smooth.
Tuan turned the shaft of the reverse screw near its head on a lathe so that it would thread into the shifter farther. He also ground a bit off the head. This enables the shifter to sit vertically upright in the 3-4 gate, yet go into 1-2 without any binding.
IMHO, the shifter is now perfect.
Yoy may want to call UUC. I understand they are doing a similar if not the same mod as a retro mod for their existing shifters.
Happy shifting!
