Has anyone compiled Stoptech install tips?
I've searched the archives and there's tons of posts about Stoptech quality, will they fit under brand x wheel, but very little about the actual installation.
I'm looking for tips, hints, special tools, things to watch out for, etc.
The couple things I did find are:
1. Stock pad wear sensors can't be used, but someone made a BMW sensor work.
2. The splash shield either needs to be bent away from the rotor or removed entirely.
Anything else?
TIA.

1) The 22mm bolt that holds the calipers on may really be an 18 or 19 instead..
It took me a while to accept that the instructions had it wrong. Evidently, some were built one way, some the other.
When you decide how to deal with the brake sensor, I advise against clipping the wire on the brake side of the connector and tying it all in place. The connector (both halves now loose on one end)has too much mass and will move around enough to break the wires (at least if you spin out at the track :-). To hot wire it right, remove the whole connector (both sides) and short it in the wire.
3) Don't do it on a cold rainy day...you'll get stiff.
4) It took me longer than expected. Nothing was hard...just a lot of stuff to do. The 3 hour estimate is for experts who've done it before. Make sure you have about 6 hours, just in case
5) Get a pressure brake bleeder...a cheap one is in the URL.

http://www.motiveproducts.com/</a
