Has anyone noticed a decrease in torque after installing aftermarket BPVs?
The first mods I did to my car were to install an Abt chip and a Borla exhaust. The car felt VERY fast, but was a little "twitchy". It was surging under heavy load. So, I called the place where I bought my chip from and they told me that new bypass valves would smooth out the throttle response. Well, I've had them in for nearly two weeks now, and I feel like I'm nearly back to stock boost. The torque I feel is extremely linear, no "punch" to it all. And, a few times, I've gotten on the throttle in second gear, and the whole car bogs down & I have no boost at all.
Anyone with a similar experience? TIA.

Sounds like you might have a bad Y-hose....aka TBB.
Try the stock ECU and see if acts the same. If so, then it's the car and not the chip. Do you have a boost gauge? If not, see if you can get someone with a VAG to look at it. You could be making boost, but the car is retarding your timing. Eventually, get a boost gauge. It's easier to monitor boost performance than hooking up a VAG tool all the time.

That sounds like bad advice you got there.
I don't know how someone could tell you that new $300 bpvs would solve your problem without knowing if your old bpvs were bad.
I would thoroughly check the throttle body hose and the f-hose.
