has anyone removed the amber inserts on their xenons to have clear corners and
how easy is it to do and is it worth it. i was reading the tech article and it seems simple but lots of things seem simple when you reading them. any info would be greatly appreciated.

Its very easy, takes about 15 minutes a side and looks much better...
Use a soldering pin to melt the hose in the back of the housing to avoid all the dust of a drill.

Its very easy. hardest part is breaking up the lense without scratching the chrome.
my drivers side was my "practice" side. unfortunatly. 
other side came out perfect.
