Help, looking at a '93 S4, need advice
Here's what I know: about 80k miles, second owner, stock, excellent condition with original records is what I know. I'll see the car in the next couple of days.
What should I be on the look out for in this car? And what are the bigger budget maintenance items that I'll be facing soon?
I've been looking for a good dependable daily driver that I can take to a half dozen driving schools throughout the year. How will this car stack up? My last car was a 95 M3, and I loved the balance and feel, but miss the extra 2-doors.
Any good info sources you can point me to?
What do you think is a good price for this car?
Thanks

I was looking at a '94 awhile back...
there are some known issues. Check www.urs4.com and www.s-cars.org. There is buying information and things to look out for. As far as price, it is kinda all over the map. If it is totally clean, I'd say somewhere under $20K. There aren't many of these cars around, but also there isn't much of a market for them. Get an inspection done on the car, preferably by a good independent Audi repair shop that knows old S-cars. The $100-200 you spend on a good pre purchase inspection can save you thousands down the road.
The one I was looking at was Stage 2 mods, and was extremely fast. It had 115K, 2nd owner, was very clean, and ended up selling for $17K. I passed because I figured that 115K meant I was going to be in for some maintenance $$$ in the not-so-distant future.
Of course now it looks like I'll end up getting an older 911...yeah, like that will be cheap to keep running (ha!). At least it only has 56K and checked out totally clean on a PPI.
