HELP!!! Question about installing Diverter valves on STOCK S4!!!!!
My friend just picked up 2 Diverter valves priced at $170 a piece. I dont know what brand they are. Probably Forge, but I dunno. They are inmported from England and are the servicable type. They are polished and can be taken apart. Also they have different settings for different amounts of boost.
I told my friend to install them today after work, but he is hesitant b/c his car is stock for the next 2 weeks till his chip and exhaust come in.
The shop he got them at told him not to install it till he chips his car. I told him to do it anyway just because this part is supposedly more reliable than the stock valve thingie!
My questions are.....
Is anyone familiar with this model Diverter/Blow-off valve or do I have no idea what I am talking about....?
Can it be installed on a stock car w/o causeing problems and would you reccomend it or shall we wait for chip and exhaust?
How hard are these things to install...... friend told me 15min each, but I find that hard to believe.
Lastly, do these make noise or are they stealth?? I hope thhat these are silent so no one knows we are coming.
Anyway,
Thanks for all your help......you guys are really knowledgeable when it comes to AUDI's so I look forward to hearing your golden advice!
Also is APR Chip and exhaust good???? Friend syasy everyone swears by it and thats what he want on his car. I told him Borla Exhaust and GIAC chip. Suggestions welcome!

Sounds like Forge, but at $170/each, ouch...
...they're $139 from Stratmosphere. The Forge valves he has should have a blue nylon piston in them. That piston expands too much when heated and causes the valves to stick. I have a new shiny aluminum piston in my Forges that solves that problem and works. He should wait to install those until he receives the model with a revised aluminum piston (should ship next week or two from his retailer, I think, as Forge is just starting a production run of them). I am running the Forge valves with a stock ECU, and even with it, I can tell a difference between the Forges and Bosch valves. Certainly before you chip the car I would recommend installing the aftermarket valves though. The valves don't make any more noise than stock valves do.

If they are Forge valves, you should probably wait till the upgraded ones get shipped.
At the very least, you should do the bake test and make sure they work when hot (~165 F).
Do an S4 site search on "Forge" and you'll be rewarded with a zillion things to read about some recent problems with these valves. I believe that there is a fix on the way....but you probably don't have it.
If they are "bailey" valves, I would concur with your advice. But there are others who would recommend staying stock. One final option is an upgraded Bosch part. "BPV" would be another search term that will give you hours if not days or weeks of reading pleasure to check out.
