Help : Road Trip Advice Needed....
I don't usually post but have been following this board for more than a year. The tips and advice have been great and I really appreciate all the insight from the guys here. Ok, down to the matter at hand, I'm leaving on a road trip tommorrow...about 900 mi each way ( up to WI from TX). Need tips on fellow AWers who've done road trips. This is what I've done so far....
1) Audi Bra
2) 110 Valves
3) Intend to switch V1 to 'A' mode.
4) Special sauce...
Any tips? I'm concerned about the prolonged running of the turbo at reasonably fast speeds..... . Trip is supposed to take about 17 hours each way.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it...
...just drive the car an enjoy. Unless you're planning on driving 150 mph, you really won't be stressing the turbos at all.

Andy is right (as usual)...
these cars are designed to cruise the Autobahn all day at speeds that would soon have you arrested in most states. The S4 is a joy on road trips, and with your Special Sauce you don't even have to downshift to blow past other cars.
Check your oil and tire pressures before you leave, and listen to what Mr. Valentine has to tell you!

its the warming up and cooling down of the turbos that hurt them, not the continuous use
hell the Gumballers went from NJ to Cali, 75% of those cars were Turbo. Just make sure when you exit off of the freeways and stuff when you have been driving fast to let the turbos cool! Have fun

stop worrying, the car loves that kind of driving.
Best idea you have is the bra. The front of my car looks like it's been sandblasted for all the 500 mile 90mph trips I've done. :-)

Road trip to 'Vegas... sat on 100+ for "hours"
Speeds ranged from 85-140mph. On the back highways from Reno towards Las Vegas (late at night) set cruise on 110 and left it there for almost an hour. Car just hummed.
The only problem? That one 70mph corner that wasn't marked. Just 'bout ate my lunch.
One downhill out of Tonopah - briefly touched 165 mph (indicated). jeezuss... you cover ground at that rate. Dunno' how the Indy car drivers even begin to react at their speeds.
The big secret to the above? Properly broken in, lots of oil changes (700 and 2000 miles). Switched to Mobil 1 0W-30 at 5K miles - change oil/filter every 5k miles. And I ALWAYS do a gradual, easy warm-up and religously do a cool-down drive towards stopping point... will let it idle for several minutes if it has been driven hard (especially if the ambient temp is high).
2000 model, original turbos, no mechanical problems at all yet. Well, the brake rotors needed to be replaced. hmmm.... wonder why?
I love this car!! yes, it's got some small warts - but they all do - it's just a different list for car a, b, etc.
For all-around everything..... this is my weapon of choice.
