Default High pitched whistle from the engine bay at IDLE...

I just noticed this happening for the first time this weekend. Its pretty faint and easily drowned out by any amount of throttle, but it is definitely present. I opened the hood and it sounded as though it was coming from the area of the passenger-side bypass valve/f-hose, but I'm not really sure. I can only hear it at idle (drowned out by other noises while driving), and it doesn't seem to change in pitch or volume, but it could just be getting masked by other engine noise.

Anyone ever hear something like this or have any ideas what it could be? My car is an '01 with ~13K miles.

Default could be a bad BPVs little hose...

I had a similar problem too. My little hose flipped from the BPVs nipple.

Default But did the problem occur under idle?

I didn't think it would be a loose hose or boost leak since it was at idle and not producing boost. I did jiggle the hoses attached to the bypass valves to see if it made any change in the sound... no dice.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. Guess I'll have to get it checked out.

Love that sig!

Default Ok, I just got back from the dealer...

They pressure tested the intake system and said there are no leaks. They told me that the only place the noise could be coming from is the throttle body (not the throttle body boot). Since its not leaking, there is no performance loss and no problems driving it.

They left it up to me as to if and when I want to have the throttle body replaced.
