Hmmm. That new S4 is nothing more than a gussied up B5 S4...

Same crap, nothing new except the V8 which weighs the same and the tranny that weigs a hair less than the current one. Add a bit more sound deadening and you got yourself a loser.
Better quote the article boys and girls, and I see an aluminum suspension that has been promised. ;-)
This thing is a real snoozer.

Heck 345 hp nowadays is nothing to write home about.
That thing is going to weigh as much, if not more.
You know they aren't going to sell the U.S. spec with heated steering wheel or the Recaros, so what exactly is so new about this car?

certainly you hve not driven the new s4. please reserve such damming judgements til you have done both of the above....
true its not ALL different...but what did you expect audi to do? make a RWD mid engine sports car out of a front engine sedan? sorry, but i have to say, jstu because you are jumping ship doesn't mean others don't want "the same old formula"...which in this case is a touch of class = AWD = easy power on tap. add improved dynamic response and you hav e winner...not for everybody...but every product has the right audience....jus thope the pricepoint matches teh audience and that your amrketing is not hopelessly lost....

Although for a limited time (but still aggresively enough to get yelled at by Audi personnel). I concur that the new chassis is much stiffer than the B5 chassis stock for stock.
I don't expect Audi to completely abandon their plan, but if they intend to do battle in the coveted sports sedan arena, they better take notice. Not only are their German peers producing better and better cars, but so are their Japanese opponents. Not only that, you have the British motor car producing contingent biting at the traditional German stomping grounds. Hell, throw Saab in there too.
So Audi HAS to, not SHOULD, put forth a LOT more than getting a would be A4 buyer into an S4. Frankly, I think the route that Audi is taking is a cop-out, and an embarrasment to the S line in general, save for the RS line (which, IMHO, is an exclusive club).
