Default homebrew ecu and maf question

I have STFA but have a couple questions. My 00 S4 has the following. Stock ecu (A-
Box), RS4-K04 turbos,710 valves, Piggie pipes and a Borla catback. I would like to chip the car. I plan on using either 36# or 42# injectors, appropriate fuel regulator and KO3 software (APR or GIAC) with Manual boost controler in parallel with N75. I am looking for verification that the options I am considering will work. I have Vag-Com and Wideband O2 and have set up several fully programable ECU's so am comfortable with tunning.

1) Use chipped A-box with RS4 MAF (not sure if the whole RS4 maf is used or the sensing part of the stock maf is used in RS4 housing). Modify air box to fit larger MAF and use RS4 tubing to intake. Use Lemmi to tweak final set up.

2)Use Chipped M-Box (maybe other later boxes as well?) Use hitachi MAF sensor in modifed Housing (piggie mod) or maybe Ford? Recode instrument cluster with VAG-COM to use later ECU. Have to use adapter to mate hitachi to stock wiring harness. Plus parts in option above for larger MAF.tweek.

Is option 2 valid? what else might I need. Is there a advantage to using M-box (or later) other than MAF?

thanks

John

Default You can use either injector. Leaving the mbc in parallel will limit the max boost you can run to

around 17-19lbs. Common maf housing sizes are 83 and 85. aside from some washers or spacers for the fuel rail, that's it.

Good luck.

Default Hmmm, would you like to rethink any of that? :P

Some people are running well over 20 psi with mbc in parallel, pooky.

Default Yeah, he is flat out wrong. Give him a break, he has been tackled one too many times by big special

teamers.

Default Guess it depends on the car. My problem was I'd trip negative deviation limp mode unless i turned

down the SEL scaling to which point i was only making 19-20lbs of boost. I understand each car is different but that was my observation....

Default I have that problem on the XR but not on the X, I believe with XR you either need to go MBC only or

adjust the Sel Scaling ..

Default Are you running a TCD? Have you tried running without it?

XR sets off a negative deviation code on mine also. Just wondered how it would run without the TCD, or a higher psi TCD.

Holy throttle cut batman. It has to do with ramp-up, not the TCD....AFAIK.
