Default Honest reliability opinions?

I'm planning on getting rid of my 2000 Jetta late next year and buying a certified pre-owned S4, but I'm hearing horror stories of $6000 blown turbos, and I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better off with a loaded 2.8quattro A4.

Basically, I want a quick car with solid reliability, but enough power so it doesn't make me want to cry when I'm in the mountains because of the thinner air making the engine run like crap. I don't like the 1.8t, so it comes down to an S4 or a 2.8. I love the S4 because of the 6speed gearbox, more power, and sportier seats, suspension, etc, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend godknowshowmuch every year to rebuild the turbos.....

Sooooo the question is: would you recommend an S4, or an A4 2.8 quattro?

Default The S4 is very reliable. If it is certified pre-owned, ect.....

it has a warranty. So no worries.
Besides, the 2.8 is FAR from quick compared to the S4.

heh, I think perhaps "hands down" might refer to something like "raise your hand if you disagree", and having no disagreement.

In any case, as a punk kid(early 20s), I'd probably eventually get around to chipping the S4 if I got it. I know the 1.8t takes well to chipping and doesn't "seem" to hurt the reliability, but has anyone hit the 100,000 miles on the stock turbos with a long-term chip?

edit: I Kan speel inglish languidge verri well!

Deserve? Nah, I don't. Want, and lust for? Oh yes I love my Jetta to death, but front wheel drive is killing me, and since you can't get 4Motion Jettas in the US, I must move to my upmarket brethren.

Just out of curiosity, what's the top speed of one of these bad boys with a chip?
