how hard it is to get 1 19x8.5 sportec anthracite rim (kinda long)
so, i posted a while back about trying to locate an additional 19x8.5 sportec anthracite rim. i already have a set (bought from a friend)
well, i called several places that i knew carried them in the past. i emailed other places including retailers in canada and overseas. most places got back with me and told me that they can only sell 4 at a time-i.e. full set only. i got a bit tired of hearing "4 only" so i asked if someone were to buy 5 at one time to have a full spare, then what? a couple of places told me that would be okay. others told me that no one has ever bought 5 at a time from them.
well, i finally resorted to contacting sportec.de and sportec.ch. they were really fast in replying. the folks at the latter were especially willing to ship just 1 wheel but the shipping would kill. i thought i may have to go that route.
when i spoke with sportecusa, i was told that they have a bent, but fixable, rim that they could have fixed locally and sent to me. i am still waiting to hear back what the lead time is for that. they also warned that the refinishing, though done by someone who has fixed several wheels for them, may not look like my anthracite wheels.
so, i am sitting here thinking of which route i should go.
1. just order directly from sportec.ch and eat the shipping cost
2. take the wheel that sportecusa will have fixed and refinished
i have decided to wait and hear back from sportecusa and if the wait time is too long then i will order from sportec.ch
unless someone has one they are gonna sell
that is all. thanks for reading if you got this far.

I know a good rim repair shop up here, not cheap, but if a wheel can be repaired and refinished
back to specs they would be the ones.... if you get the rim and snap some pics of the damage, they will give you a rough quote, from there they would really need to see a wheel, but I've had nothing but great service and did wonders to my BBS's.
