Default How hard is it to get air in the power steering?

Issue of my power steering fluid going low came up with a coworker. He was asking about the feel of it now that the pump has been sucking in air when it is groaning/squeeling. This has happened a few times over 20k+ miles, so if the steering is changing It is probably subtle. And with the variable assist, it could be harder to tell. But I have complained to my tech about the car feeling weird on turns, especially freeway speeds. Not necessarily on the track either, nice sweeping interchanges feel strange. I have complained that maybe the suspension is shot, but my tech swears it's fine. He has removed my wheels twice to check it out. It is possible I have air in my system that is making my inputs and the variable assist pumping get a little wacky? Thoughts? I know I am stretching..
