I'd love to get one of these companies to build a chip to reprogram the car's trip computer to add the following functions:


boost gague & wastegate status
turbo RPMs (for timing turbo spin-down)
I don't believe this info is actually available though
EDL activity
a diagram of the drivetrain a-la quattro I
a wheel lights up if it's slipping/locking
and then gets an X in it when the computer takes over

A function to deactivate EDL and/or ABS
Not that I'd use this a lot, but it would be good for experimenting
and certainly for driving practice. It might come in useful for
autocross too, I wouldn't know.
<b>Interior</b> temperature - I can't believe it doesn't have this already!
A fuction to activate/deactivate a <b>depowering</b> of the engine
Clearly this would have to be in conjunction w/ a chipped ECU
I think this would be good for when you have to valet park
Not only would it give you some safety if they actually tried
to go joy-riding in your car, but it would also help the unknowing
valet who just wasn't prepared for the boost.


How many others would like any of these functions? Except #2, this information is all available - it kills me that we can't have it.

Anyone else have cool ideas for info that is probably available, and would be really nice to have?

There is a guy who is selling an interface for the Audi trip computer. It will essentially allow you to display any analog or digital signal. He had already set it up for boost control, intake air temp, exhaust gas temperature, and a few others.

I remember checking out his website a few months ago, but can't find the link. You may want to check the A4.org archives as I originally heard up it here.
