would be really risky... any writeup, or is it just common sense? I was quoted $75 to have my chip installed. thanks

If you've never done it, don't even consider it

Default 2nd - hijack: mark, can I call you sometime regarding aquamist?

Summer is rolling around and I don't want to get caught without having aquamist installed

I'm surprised more people don't use water injection.

Default I did my own, but

I have access to the proper equipment. It's not that hard to solder the new chip. The problem is removing the old one. You've got to heat up all 28 pins simultaneously while you gently pry upwards. You need a hot air SMD station to do this properly.

And as Mark P suggested, if you've never soldered before, don't even think about trying it. A beginner can easily pull up pads and traces by overheating things.

Anything worth nothing. Maybe a Radio Shack electronics hooby kit.
