going to the rear of the beautiful aluminum "Y" on top of the engine. My acceleration does not seem as stellar as it used to be.

Default This boot has a good tendency to tear. The best

way is to remove the boot and inspect it off the car. Lucky for all they are very cheap from Audi(only $8 dollors). Ours on our R&D S4 has torn already and we orderd 8 boots. I hope this helps.

When inspecting the boot is the tear pretty obvious or am I looking for a pinhole sized breach? I'm about to tear it off this afternoon for an inspection. Thanks in advance.

Default Any R&D on hard pipes in the future?

Was wondering if APR or anyone else was looking into replacing the intake boot with a solid pipe?

Default I don't think it can be a hard pipe

The engine's gonna move around, so the boot has to be flexible, hence it's accordian appearance.

Default VW has done it for years, why can't Audi?

You could do poly couplings on either end for the flex and movement. It just seems like better setup with a solid intake pipe.

Default You will be looking for a tear in the rubber. It can

be hard to see, so make sure you work the rubber around in your hand to find a tear. Our boot split near one of the hose clamps. Feel free to give us a ring if you have any in depth questions.

Hope this helps,

Default Hrm, which boot are we talking about?

The accordian like intake one, or the thick rubber Y boot underneath the front engine cover?

Default I think he means the underside can be hard to see, which is true....

this is where mine was torn, and I didn't see it. Dealer uninstalled it and found tear.
