Default how should I protect my engine bay from rodents during the winter?

last winter year I had a mouse nest or something in the engine bay ..... today I was out working under the hood and found a couple of acorns and wood shreddings sitting in my x-1 shroud. wtf.

aside from checking that there isn't a nest lodged in my intake next time I start the car, what can I do to keep my non-rent paying, rodent tenants out of the engine bay? The S will be in the garage for most of the winter, so it can be a somewhat long term solution. Ideas?

Default Man, I look forward to driving my car in the winter. Can't imagine storing it.

Mothballs everywhere. Just take note where you put them so you don't leave any in there next summer. You can also by a spray that works good. I can't remember the name, but if you google it, you will find it. Works better than mothballs, but it takes about 3 washings and a few hundred miles to burn off.

Default Not to hijkack your thread, but do you use a battery charger/minder of any sort when you store

your car in the winter? Any recommendations? Thanks.

Default If you disconnect it and do nothing, you will most likely need to recharge it in the spring

Or you can get something like this and place the battery somewhere where it sees daylight at some point during the day. I've used them before in other applications and they work great. Better than buying a charger IMO.

http ://www.4lots.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=155</a
