How to tell a 2001 from a 2001.5 by the Vin #.

Two options:
If you have VAG COM you can tell...
Or you could pull the ECU and look at the sticker on it.
H box = 2001.0
M box = 2001.5 (also, there is no F-Hose)
(those are for 6 speed)
I dont think the VIN can provide this with 100% accuracy.
