Hrrrm... aftermarket Quaife differentials?
#23
Corey.. a little more on this topic please.
/*
A quaife will not work, however, because it is a torque biasing differential. A quaife multiplies torque, and since there isn't much torque resistance on the inside rear wheel, it won't do a very good job.
*/
The above doesn't quite make sense to me. I was assuming if the inside wheel takes off, the new rear torsen will transfer power to the outside wheel (which currently has the most opposing torque). And if disk type LSD is installed, it'll lock and both wheel will spend at the same torque. So given that, how is a torsen not as good as a VC or a disk type LSD?

So what is the final word of VC vs torsen vs disk type LSD?
Or is there no final word?
I know how each work, or in the torsen's case what it does ( too complex to understand on paper). But I've no idea how they feel at the limit.
From my understanding of each of the 3 LSD, IMO torsen is better under all conditions. But like you and other pointed out, some race car opt for a LSD or a VC either in the center or the rear.. So I'm really confused as to why...
I remeber seeing disk-type LSD from mazdaspeed for the rx-7. All I can do is scratch my head as to why one wants to replace the stock rear torsen.

I had trouble getting on that truck..
That thing was tall..
Corey.. I'm never riding with you until you do something about that suspension. i got the car sick from hell going up to stasis. I almost vomited on paul's race car.
