Default I am new to the board. A few comments/questions.

Okay, let me start out by mentioning that I am a 20 year old who is ready to order his first German sports car. I have done some research and it was between a used M3/new 330/new S4. After reading your posts and going to the Audi dealership, I have decided to go with an S4 with a six-speed transmission. By the way, I was very surprised to see how young some of you are! That's great!
I am going to take it in the pants, however, since I just bought a 2000 Mustang GT a few months ago. Oh, man is that thing a pile of junk. I hate to say it, but we Americans still don't know how to make a solid sports car. Anyways, I have a few questions for you all. The dealership I will be ordering from wants to charge around 45k for the S4. I thought this was a bit steep, being almost 6k over the MSRP of the S4 I crafted on the Audi website. Any of you guys pay premium's that high? Also, is the insurance on this car pretty pricey? The rates on my POS aren't too bad right now. Last question, how many of you S4 drivers have installed chips in your cars? I heard that can do quite a bit to boost performance. Does it anger the warranty people though?
Thanks for your time reading this long-winded message, and I look forward to hearing from you guys in the future. BTW, the site looks great!

-Brian

Default payed 46,975 out the door (includes CA taxes, lux etc) as for the insurance…

i really depends on your driving record : ) especially at yours (and my) age. right now i do not have a chip, cant decide which one and dont have 600-800 to spend, but it is worth it as you will soon rise to the top of super cars with the chip - just dont let your dealer find out :P oh welcome!

Default 45k is WAY too much. MSRP + 1k in L.A., under MSRP many other places...

Check with your insurance company, where you live and your age/driving record are a LOT to do with what they’ll charge you. Remember the S4 is much more expensive than that Mustang so the insurance will be higher.

You might do some searches, all these questions are answered in detail...the new search engine rocks!

Good luck!

Default from a fellow 20 year old.

DO NOT PAY 45k for the car. That's too much in comparison to MSRP. Go somewhere else, do it from carsdirect.com....if you are in Los angleses area, i can get you a better deal than 45k for a new S4.

Lots of S4 guys and gals (leslie, that was for you) are chipped around these parts. We are way happy =)

I pay 2k per year for insurance
You must work in IT or something =)

Default Hehe. ****ang

1. New S4 is the best of your choices for sure!!

2. 6k over? #&^%!!! Don't pay over MSRP. I bought mine 8 months ago so maybe some recent buyers can share what they paid.

3. Depends on your driving record, location, blah blah blah. For me, all are BAD which = high rate on the S4.

4. Yes, you must_chip! APR or MTM will bring you to 315 - 320hp right off the bat. Combine with exhaust, new intake, and whatever else you have the $$ to mod on there, and the S4 gets FAST. Very fast! You can hope for a dealer that doesn't care a ton about mods (check first with those honest questions) or you can fool them with a spare ECU for your chip. Replace modded ECU with a stock one whenever you go in for service.
Jessica K

tax and license were a small bit more. Which will vary wildly from state to state.

Aha, a fellow youngin! Well, so far my driving record is perfect. As for the price you paid, it seems as though everything is more expensive here in California! Oh well, thats the price of sunny weather (not this weekend though). What kind of results have been seen from a chip in an S4, just out of curiosity?
