Default I did some logging with the new turbos today....

For those that do not know, I recently installed a pair of Jacob's K04/K16 hybrids on my S4. Along with the new turbos, I installed a set of ASP headers, Vast intake mani spacers, and did alot to control engine heat. I also have RS4 IC's, a full Miltek dual exhaust, Vast Walbro fuel pump, Green tops, water injection, and custom 91 octain Sportec software. These logs are all on 91 octain with water injtection with no lemmi tweaks. Keep in mind these logs were taken at about 6,000 feet and 85 degrees.
First off, the car runs great on the Sportec software. The car peaks at about 1.37 bar and then drops off to about 1.2 bar, which is exactly how it ran on the stock K04's. This graph shows the increase in airflow. There is an increase of almost 30 grams/sec across the power band at the same boost levels. Most excellent.

My timing also looks a bit better with the new turbos. This is with my water injection, which is really meth injection because I use straight Yellow Heet. No lemmi tweaks, yet, so there is more there.

Finally, yes, the car is indeed faster. The graph shows an average run for my car with the old K04s and water injection, but no lemmi tweaks on the Sportec software. It also shows the new turbos with the same water injection and software. <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/23081/sportec_k04vsk16_fats_chart_31639_image001.jpg">
I am quite pleased with how the car is running so far. I do think the logs suggest the car should be faster, but I was on a new road and the car was full of gas, golf clubs, and a passenger. The car really pulls all the way to redline with the K04/K16's. On the K04's, the car would hit 6,200 RPM and would promptly fall on its face, especially in the thin air. This is no longer the case. I am going to get some new goodies so I can tweak the boost and I will get some more logs.

Default Nice comparison. Do you have a boost log to confirm the boost was indeed a constant?

Nevertheless, it's precisely what I'd expect.

Default Check out my pic poster...

The intake manifold, charge air piping, and intercoolers were all coated by Swain Tech with a black coating that is supposed to pull heat out of the metal. The intake piping just below the exhaust manifolds was wrapped in reflective insulation wrap and then in exhaust wrap to keep heat away. The exhaust manifolds ship from ASP with a Swain Tech exhaust coating already on it, but I wrapped it in DEI exhaust wrapping along with the down pipes, too. I sprayed it all with a silicone sealant that is supposed to keep the water out. I also put a VAST spacer on the intake manifold. Lots of pictures in the pic poster.
So far it seems to be working. My AIT's aren't much cooler, but they do stay cool for much longer. I was trying to heat soak the car in 90 degree heat today and after 6 back to back 60-90 mph runs, it actually got faster. I will get logs in a few weeks.<ul><li><a href="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/users/23081.phtml">Click...</a></li></ul>

Default looks great man! few questions for you...

how can you pull heat away from the intake manifold, since the air and parts around it will be much hotter than the air coming in, heat can't flow from colder to hotter. right?!

Also intake and ICs are made of AL and AL is 3rd best metal to transfer heat how can this black coating work? how can it transfer heat better than AL does?

I really like the wrapping on the intake pipe on the turbo and exhaust manifold. But even knowing i want to wrap my DPs i found that it might not help us much(link above) or maybe even hurt?

I'm not douting you at all just wanna know what you think since you have more expierence with it, and i wanna do the same to my car later on.

Thanks<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1738380.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1738380.phtml</a</li></ul>
