Default I found a guide, but have one question...

Reading a guide on installing a short shifter, just curious how to pull out the center e-brake cover like these pictures show.

Default IIRC there's a plastic pin at the lower base of the grip. Pull it out and slide off the grip.

The rest is easy

Clip under ebrake handle. Remove it and slide the handle forward.

You don't need to pull that to do a short shifter.
