Default I have noticed a slight clunk when I hit the gas around 2300-2600 RPMs. Rear differential mount?

I am pretty sure its the rear of the car or near the middle/rear.

I have a 2000A6 2.7t 6mt. All new motor/trans mounts.

Easy fix? Place to buy mount if thats my cause?

could be a cv joint in one of your halfshafts or something in your prop shaft

Default *Usually* when a CV joint is on its way out, it will make a clunking sound when turning

the steering wheel, I know mine was very audible and clunked like hell.

Obviously, that is not the rear/middle of the car, though.

Default Yea its def from the rear. I have noticed what I think is my rear drive shaft making noise on turns.

Could it be related?

It almost sounds like the creaking you get when you have a bad front CV joint. I have been told by AW members that its prob my rear suspension making the noise but I don't know for sure.

What are the signs of a failing rear drive shaft? Do they go bad?

Default to really isolate it, if you can't when driving...

grab the shaft away from the CV with one hand and see if there's too much play when trying to move the output of the shaft at the CV.

basically, you'll want to see if you can twist the sections opposite of eachother to see if there is a problem.

check for blown boots and massive loss of grease as well.

we've seen rebuilds on cv's that weren't regreased and dried out over time and caused problems behind a boot that was still sealed.

I'll try that this weekend. What about the rear, is there known problems with the rear drive shaft?
