Default I hope they don't make the new S4 a two-door coupe....

I think one of the things that makes the S4 so special and amazing is that it is a 4 door sedan that is more fun to drive than most 2 door coupes. If the S4 went to a 2 door configuration then I think it would lose a lot of the flair and charm the current version has in that one is able to have a convenient "family" sedan that can put a grin on your face from ear to ear.

I think that if the S4 went to coupe format the only thing Audi could do to make it as impressive as it currently is is to up the power so much that the car is just a rocketship. Other than that it would just be another sports coupe like the new M3 or the Porsche C4 (nothing wrong with either of these great cars), but it wouldn't be a car that can hold the entire family while still providing ample fun and trackable delite on the weekends. The S4 if it goes to coupe format would lose the space advantage, the 4 door advantage, passanger capacity, and the general charm of being a 4 door sedan that can blow the pants off of many a two door sports coupe. The only remaining charm would be shear engine power coupled with AWD and to be honest if I were in the market for a fast sports coupe that was AWD I would rather go with the Porsche C4.

I personally hope that Audi sticks with the sedan design for the S4 and perhaps introduces another S-car to fill the role of a 2-door coupe in the market. I think it will be a great loss if the S4 goes to 2-door format only as that would signify the disappearance of a complete niche of cars filled virtually only by the current S4 and the Subaru WRX (with less luxury of course).

An "S" TT Coupe with a 2.7T would be nice though (if they could squeeze it in there).

Default Not workable.

I too would love to see S4 power and torque in a TT but it won't happen with the 2.7T.

First the S4 engine is mounted longitudinal whereas TT is horizontal. Second S4 engine is way too heavy for the TT chassis. Maybe a turbocharged VR6 engine?

Perhaps the S4 will come in coupe and Avant forms when it comes back. The coupe would sell well!

What would make the S4 stand out from a number of other sports coupe's then?

Default What makes the M3 stand out?!

It would have an identity of it's own just like the S4 does now.

Default To me the M3 doesn't stand out that much

I think what makes the S4 stand out more to me than the M3 is that the S4 is capable of delivering tons of power and performance while being a 4 door sedan that can carry the entire family around. Additionally the S4 offers quattro (which the coupe version would also). The M3 on the other hand is a fast two door coupe as are the Porsche 911's, the corvette's, the diablo's, the lotus's, etc. The S4 is truly different in that it is a fast 4 door sedan that competes against 2-door coupes. That is what makes it truly different.

Quick Reply: I hope they don't make the new S4 a two-door coupe....
