:( I just heard from the insurance that my S4 is totaled....
If some of you remember I posted about hitting a curb at a high speed because the brakes did not seem to work.
Insurance company and the body shop said that black ice will do what I described as happening to me when I couldnt stop and hit the curb.
Although there is only body damage to the front bumper and lower lip most of the real damage is to the uni body. The body shop said that the uni body is twisted pretty bad from original audi specs and that no one could get it back to spec.
I am pretty bummed out since I though I didn't really do much damage at all. The insurance is giving me 27,500 for the car. (2000 S4 40K miles)I had no clue that you could total a car by twisting it up.
1: My questions are how much do you guys think I can buy it back for. I find out tomorrow from the insurance what they will sell to me for.
2: I also was wondering if an A4 unibody is the same as an S4? I wanted to pick up another car for relatively cheap and take all my parts from my S4 and put them on the unibody of the other car. How much do you guys think I can get a totaled car that was not in an accident? (theft or fire damage)
3:If #2 is possible what do you guys think a good body shop would charge to swap over all the parts. I have a shop already that can do it I just want to know how much it may run.
Any suggestions or opinions against or for would be appreciated. I need to decide fast since I need to strip off all my aftermarket parts and put the stock ones back on if I am not going to go for it.

27k for a 40k mile '00? thats great! i'd leave the old car behind. be glad that it's totalled and
not being fixed because with a bend in the unibody it will never be the same. I say leave it behind,,take the $27k and buy a good used '01 S4 w/ same milage.

buy your car back (usually 10% ACV) and part it out, start over with another S4 - not A4. also....
make sure they factor in your mods in the value of the car. i just went through this. You CAN get money for your mods.
