Default I just want to say.....

dont ever let that idler roller go without attention for 75K miles... I just saw one that had exploded at work.... messy, very messy. When ball bearings deploy from that lil fella you end up needing a LOT of new valves. Car I saw today needs 12 exhaust valves and between 6 and 18 intake valves. Timing belt theeth shred off nicely too. This is the 2nd one of these I've seen let go in the last month... one on an AHA and the other on an APB <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/51556/stbroller3.jpg">

Just a friendly reminder... dont put that timing belt job off forever... your valves will thank you (by their continued operation)

Default I don't undrestand how folks can't hear them going bad

Typically, they start to whine or rattle, the don't just explode without notice.

Default 74k and the other was 98K

its not a question as to IF its a gamble of when that thing lets go. Back when I did my TB job on my 12v my version of that thing was showing its age... makin noise and such... that was at 100K or so.

Default these were not entheusiast owned cars

most likely owned by the same people that dont know the reasoning behind premium fuel vs regular. Cars are just appliances to some people... I've opted to step away from that way of life with mine as have many of you guys... however the other 99% of owners just dont know or care.
