The word "Führer" has no negative conotation in Germany. It simppy means leader
I can understand why someone who does not understand or know the translation might be offended, but it is not an inflamatory or offensive word within the German language.
It's no different than the word "****". The word **** was the name for a political party in Germany that Hitler took over leadership of and changed it's already questionable ideals into what became the holocast. But when people in America call anti-semetic or people expounding hatered towards others ****'s, they are far from accurate in 99% of cases.
Most modern day German's are more against what happened in their history and less forgiving than we as Americans are.
