the box of rocks shifting of our cars? I've asked the dealer to look at this and they say it "opperates to Audi specifications". Should I just reaf on the thing til it breaks? I hear short shifters help, but is it really that much better? Other options? Thanks.

short shifter just shortens the throw. Are you saying your stock shifter is notchy?

Yes..I have to wait forever to complete a shift without forcing and seems to be getting worse to me.

1->2, 2->3, 3->4 are worst, sometimes 3->2 as well. Gets better as car warms up.

Default something is VERY wrong if this is the case. Amost sounds like wrong type of oil in the tranny

I could see downshifting from 3d to 2nd being possibly difficult, but engaging FOUR gears?
Short-shifter is only going to amplify the problem.

I would find somebody in your area and compare shifting...

Default I agree...that ain't right

The only complaints I had with the stock shifting are the long throw, and the occasional missed 1->2 shift under load, esp in a turn. Like any high-torque car, the tranny can 'twist' under load, and I've missed upshifts during a turn because of it.

A good heavy **** makes things much less painful, even if it actually makes the throw longer

My shifter sometimes is notchy, sometimes really smooth... the worst is trying to get into reverse!
